Behaviour Curriculum
At St Saviour’s, we believe that positive behaviour is taught, nurtured and modelled. Our Behaviour Curriculum provides children with clear expectations, consistent routines and positive relationships that help them feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Our Approach
We are guided by the principle that children follow people before they follow rules and that connection comes before correction. Adults work hard to make expectations clear, explicitly teach behaviour and respond in a calm, consistent and fair manner. Positive behaviour is recognised and celebrated, while mistakes are viewed as opportunities for learning and growth.
Our Caring Code
Our school community is built around three simple expectations:

These principles are strengthened through our school values of Enthusiasm, Integrity and Aspiration, which are taught, modelled and celebrated throughout school life.
Teaching Positive Behaviour
Children are taught what positive behaviour looks like through regular discussion, modelling and practice. We recognise and reward positive choices while using restorative approaches to help children reflect on their actions, understand their impact on others and repair relationships when things go wrong.
Consistent Routines
Strong routines help create a calm, purposeful and inclusive learning environment. They ensure everyone knows what to expect, reduce disruption and maximise learning time. Key routines taught across the school include:
- Silent Signal – a consistent way of gaining attention quickly and calmly.
- Wonderful Walking – moving safely, quietly and respectfully around school.
- Transitions – clear and predictable processes for moving between activities and learning spaces.
These routines are taught, practised and revisited regularly to ensure they become embedded habits that support learning and wellbeing.
Inclusion and Support
We recognise that some children may require reasonable adjustments to routines and expectations. Our approach is inclusive and responsive, ensuring that all pupils can successfully engage with school life while maintaining high expectations for everyone.

Promoting Positive Behaviour
At St Saviour’s, positive behaviour is actively taught, encouraged and celebrated. Staff use praise regularly to recognise effort, achievement and positive choices, helping children to feel successful and motivated. We believe that strong relationships, clear expectations and consistent routines are the foundations of excellent behaviour.
Children are supported to:

Supporting Children to Succeed
We recognise that behaviour is often a form of communication. When children find it difficult to meet expectations, we work to understand any underlying needs and provide appropriate support. Consequences are accompanied by opportunities for reflection, discussion and learning so that children can understand the impact of their actions and make positive changes.
Where necessary, personalised Behaviour Support Plans may be developed to meet individual needs and ensure children receive the right support to succeed. Parents and carers are involved throughout this process.
Working in Partnership with Families
Positive behaviour is most effective when schools and families work together. We place great importance on strong communication with parents and carers, celebrating successes and working collaboratively to address concerns when they arise.

We are proud to be an inclusive school community. We take a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination and bullying, ensuring that all children feel safe, respected and valued. All incidents are taken seriously, investigated thoroughly and followed up with appropriate support and intervention. ]
